What Is Lykke? Features, Plans and House Rules

Lykke is the personal assistant for students. It works on your semester in the background, hands you finished prep, courses and review, plans your week when you open it, never schedules anything on its own, and keeps a receipt of everything it did.

What it does in the background

  • Morning prep. Questions on what's due in the next 7 days, each quoting the assignment or course material it came from, ready at the time you pick. It needs the Lykke extension for Canvas.
  • The week plan. Every dated assignment this week with Lykke's time estimate, spread across the days, plus the notes and files to use for each. Lykke plans it when you open it, from Canvas, your notes and Drive.
  • Courses from your syllabus. Build from links, PDFs or a YouTube video, and paste your syllabus if you want the outline to follow it. Lykke drafts the outline and gives you 15 min to change it, then writes the sections, with quizzes and flashcards.
  • Flashcards on time. Each card comes back right before you'd forget it.
  • What to practice next. The practice path picks your next lesson and tells you why.

What it works from

  • Canvas, through the Lykke extension for Chrome. Courses, assignments, announcements, modules, files, the class list and each course's calendar, synced when you sync or open Canvas. It never writes back. Files and the class list are shared with other Lykke students in that Canvas class, including anyone who audits it. More on the extension.
  • Notes. Type a note, or record a lecture and watch the transcript appear. The extension also clips any page or YouTube video into your notes.
  • Drive. Your files in class folders. Canvas files arrive already filed.
  • Google Calendar. Your events next to your deadlines. Lykke only reads it: a study block goes on it when you save it in Google Calendar, and its AI never sees your calendar.
  • Free courses. Ready-made courses on Explore, AP included. AP Biology, AP Calculus AB, AP Physics 1 and AP Statistics have exam-style free-response questions with model answers.

Asking questions

Ask Lykke answers from your course with a quiz, a simulation or a picture. It also answers questions about your own notes, like "What did BIO 201 announce this week?"

Where it runs

On the web, and in the iPhone and iPad app.

Who it's for

High school and college students. In college, Lykke works from your Canvas classes, notes and files. In high school, the free AP courses are the place to start.

What Luminary adds

Everything above is in Scholar, the free plan. Luminary is the paid plan, and new accounts get it free for their first 7 days. It adds:

  • Scheduled quizzes and reminders you ask for, like "quiz me on Unit 3 every weekday at 7". Lykke sets one up only after you reply yes.
  • For college students: Lykke inside ChatGPT and Claude (how to set it up), Careers (internships and entry-level jobs matched to your major and what you're looking for, a tracker for every application, and practice for behavioral, case and coding interviews) and Research (REU programs and NSF-funded research positions matched to your courses and interests).

Plans and prices are on the pricing page.

What it won't do

Lykke works by eight house rules. Each one links to how we know it's true:
