Frequently Asked Questions

No. It never submits coursework, enters quiz or exam answers, or posts to a discussion — its Canvas connection only reads. It makes things you learn from: prep questions, plans, courses and flashcards.

It writes your morning prep at the time you pick, finishes the courses you asked it to build, sends the quizzes and reminders you scheduled, and keeps your flashcards on schedule. Canvas updates when you sync, or when you open Canvas in Chrome (at most every two days).

Lykke reads your primary calendar to show your events in its calendar, and keeps a copy to do that. Its AI never receives them — plans come from your Canvas deadlines, notes and files. It can't change your calendar: a study block goes on it only when you save it in Google Calendar.

Your private notes and full chats are not shown to instructors. Whoever owns a course you read can see your name and email, how far you've read, how many questions you asked, and an AI summary of those questions — never the conversations themselves. If you opt in through MCP settings, they can also see an aggregate summary of course topics explored by at least three students through connected assistants, without individual requests or reasons.

Lykke is the personal assistant for students. It works on your semester in the background — prep for what's due, courses built from your syllabus and flashcards on time — plans your week when you open it, doesn't schedule anything on its own, and never submits your coursework.

Lykke is free for high school and college students. In college it works from your Canvas classes, notes and files; in high school you can start with the free AP courses. Teachers can build or adapt a course and share it with their class. If you're juggling lots of readings, slide decks, and assignments, Lykke can help you stay organized and prepared for quizzes and exams.

No. Without Canvas you can write notes, upload your files to Drive, build a course from links, PDFs or a YouTube video, and study the free courses on Explore. Morning prep and the week plan are built from your Canvas assignments, so those two need it.

Ask Lykke answers from your course with a quiz, a simulation or a picture, and answers questions about your own notes, like "What did BIO 201 announce this week?" Each course's study page has a chat of its own. It answers from the files, notes and Canvas items you tick in the course's Sources list and lists the ones it used under the answer. With nothing ticked, it picks the sources itself when you ask about your notes, files or assignments, and otherwise answers from the web with links.

Yes. Give Lykke links, PDFs or a YouTube video to build a course from, and paste your syllabus if you want the course to follow it. Lykke drafts the outline, gives you 15 min to change it, then writes the sections with quizzes and flashcards. On a course's study page, you can also make flashcards, a quiz, a study guide, a summary, an infographic or an interactive visualization from the files and notes you tick.

Install the Lykke extension for Chrome, sign in to Lykke in the panel it shows on Canvas, pick your courses and press Sync now. It reads your courses, assignments, announcements, modules, files, class list and course calendars; after that first sync it refreshes when you open Canvas, at most every two days. Files and the class list you sync are shared with other Lykke students in that Canvas class, including anyone who audits it.

No. The Lykke extension only reads your Canvas courses, and nothing in Lykke can write to Canvas.

Yes. With Luminary (and during the free Luminary trial) you can connect Claude, ChatGPT, Claude Code, Cursor and other AI assistants to your Lykke account through MCP. They can read and search your courses and notes, see your synced Canvas deadlines and files, quiz you, run your flashcard reviews, save notes or study sets, and help with your job search — matching internships, keeping your application tracker up to date and running mock interviews. You choose read-only or read-and-write access when you connect, and every call is logged unless you pause the log. ChatGPT needs a paid ChatGPT plan with Developer mode. Set it up in Settings → MCP Access; the steps are on getlykke.com/mcp.

Lykke uses the files and notes you add to run its study features for you, like search, chat, flashcards and quizzes, and sends them to AI providers such as Google Gemini to do that. Files and the class list you sync are shared with other Lykke students in that Canvas class, including anyone who audits it. We don't sell your data. You can delete your files and notes at any time, and your whole account by emailing hello@getlykke.com.

Scholar is free. Luminary is $12.99 a month, or $9.99 a month billed yearly, and new accounts get their first 7 days of Luminary free with no card. The Video Tutor and Video Skimmer are part of paid Luminary, not the trial. During the trial you can build up to 3 new courses; Scholar has no build limit.
