Interactive Demo
Rational Expression Explorer
Rational Expression Explorer is a free, interactive learning demo from the College Algebra course on Lykke. It helps you build intuition for Reducing rational expressions, Rational arithmetic, Combined rates, Mixture problems. Play with it directly in your browser — it features 4 buttons and a live visual canvas. This demo lives in the “Rational Expressions and Equations” section of the course.
How to use this demo
- Use the “(x+3)”, “(x)”, “(x-2)”, “(x-5)” buttons to trigger actions or reset the demo.
- Experiment freely — there's nothing to break, and every change is reversible.
What you'll explore
- Reducing rational expressions
- Rational arithmetic
- Combined rates
- Mixture problems
Frequently asked questions
What does the Rational Expression Explorer demo do?
Identical factors in top and bottom create holes. Factors only in the bottom create asymptotes. Rational Expression Explorer lets you explore this hands-on instead of only reading about it.
What College Algebra concept does Rational Expression Explorer teach?
Manipulating fractions that contain variables and solving equations involving rational terms. It focuses on Reducing rational expressions, Rational arithmetic, Combined rates, Mixture problems from the “Rational Expressions and Equations” section.
What can I control in Rational Expression Explorer?
The “(x+3)”, “(x)”, “(x-2)”, “(x-5)” buttons run actions or reset the demo. Every change updates the visualization in real time, so you can see exactly how each variable affects the outcome.
How does Rational Expression Explorer fit into the College Algebra course?
The Client Challenge course is a comprehensive College Algebra program designed to guide learners through 14 essential units of mathematical mastery. Starting with foundational linear equations and inequalities, the cur… This demo is the interactive piece for the “Rational Expressions and Equations” section. What will I understand better after using Rational Expression Explorer?
You'll build intuition for Reducing rational expressions, Rational arithmetic, Combined rates, Mixture problems — and, crucially, see how they behave when you change the inputs, which is hard to get from a textbook or lecture on College Algebra alone.
