Interactive Demo
Neural Firing Simulator
Neural Firing Simulator is a free, interactive learning demo from the Psychology as Science course on Lykke. It helps you build intuition for Neuroanatomy, Neurons and Neural Communication, Epigenetics, Behavioral Endocrinology. Play with it directly in your browser — it features 4 sliders and a live visual canvas. This demo lives in the “Biological Basis of Behavior” section of the course.
How to use this demo
- Drag the sliders to change the inputs and watch the visualization update in real time.
- Experiment freely — there's nothing to break, and every change is reversible.
What you'll explore
- Neuroanatomy
- Neurons and Neural Communication
- Epigenetics
- Behavioral Endocrinology
- Natural and Sexual Selection
Frequently asked questions
What does the Neural Firing Simulator demo do?
Explores the physiological foundations of behavior, including neuroanatomy, the nervous system, and the endocrine system. Neural Firing Simulator turns that idea into something you can manipulate directly and watch respond.
What Psychology as Science concept does Neural Firing Simulator teach?
Explores the physiological foundations of behavior, including neuroanatomy, the nervous system, and the endocrine system. It focuses on Neuroanatomy, Neurons and Neural Communication, Epigenetics, Behavioral Endocrinology, Natural and Sexual Selection from the “Biological Basis of Behavior” section.
What can I control in Neural Firing Simulator?
The sliders change the key inputs. Every change updates the visualization in real time, so you can see exactly how each variable affects the outcome.
How does Neural Firing Simulator fit into the Psychology as Science course?
Psychology as Science provides a comprehensive exploration of the scientific study of human behavior and mental processes. The course bridges the gap between biological foundations—such as neuroanatomy and genetics—and… This demo is the interactive piece for the “Biological Basis of Behavior” section. What will I understand better after using Neural Firing Simulator?
You'll build intuition for Neuroanatomy, Neurons and Neural Communication, Epigenetics, Behavioral Endocrinology, Natural and Sexual Selection — and, crucially, see how they behave when you change the inputs, which is hard to get from a textbook or lecture on Psychology as Science alone.
